So you have to be a cold emotionless prick, or the bonds you develop; will literally kill you if you're in too deep. Nice, so these are your options:

1.) Abstinence: Basically never get involved with Pokemon at all. If you do, you run the risk of dying prematurely. Avoid Pokemon like their plague carriers.

2.) Be a Vulcan: Show no emotion, and just be as emotionless as the most disciplined Vulcan.

3.) Get good: In other words, if you want to be attached; grind till you can't grind anymore, and then grind some more.

Nice to know that's the only options.

Well, I believe there are much more options to be honest, with one that's pretty common in real life as well - to simply treat them like livestock. Farmers aren't cold emotionless pricks (ok, some of them are) but their animals usually don't care about them at all. One may care and worry for their Pokemon simply because of economy issues and Pokemon don't develop strong bonds with their Masters. Perfect solution (though 'Mons in this world are more inteligent than normal animals, so it might be a bit differen, dunno).
Remember that Trainers attachment to his Pokemon is of no importance here.

Yeah, but like you said Pokemon are more intelligent, so yeah....

Also Khail spiting up blood didn't seem of no importance when Deil died. So it does seem a touch important.

So it's easier for them to hate for small things as well :P

That's because of Deil's attachment to him, not the other way around.

I guess.

Okay so you don'r want your Pokemon getting attached to you. That's a trick. :P

So did the Herdiers "vanished" like Deil when Khail murder that Ranger? Or were they sent free?

Basically when their Trainer died their bonds were severed and they were sent free. If they'd been in their Pokeballs they would be locked in there untill someone  else found them and bond with them again. Or they would just vanish and die if it took too long.
But because they were killed right after their Trainer died.... I think it would mean they died as free Pokemon.

It's a kinda brutal world where Trainers see their Pokemon as a mere weapon. You don't care what your sword thinks about you.

Bore us? This lore is just fascinating! I really like your take on death in your story, it's very, well, magical XD

Out of curiosity, are the authors of these lore posts actual characters that'll appear later on? They sound like Team Plasma Sages

Nope. Those are meant to be notes/books/scrolls of the past and their authors have nothing to do with our story. :> (for now. Thanks to you I might change it in the future xD)

Oh my gosh, this is intense.

I love the idea of the stronger bonds having stronger effect on the Trainer after it dies. (I sense intense damage ahead....)

I love the ending too. So chilling and depressing at the same time. This is really cool stuff, my friend :)

seems i was right about the pain of mana beign ripped away from a trainer when its pokemon dies, love the idea, cant imagine what pain will happen if a trainers first pokemon would dy.. and the note of letting pokemon not getting attached XD would so ignore that as trainer XD love it :D

You were right about it! ;D
Suspiciously right... You know too much! :U

On the other hand  if most of Trainers treat Pokemon just as a weapon then it shouldn't be a problem~
